For nearly a decade, it has been my job to develop technology that helps our hard-working police to detect and locate illegal gun violence as it occurs.  I understand the scope of this problem, and I have worked to help fight it.

Unless you are one of those who use your gun to commit crime, I have no intention of trying to take that gun away.

I am in favor of public-service campaigns to promote responsible gun ownership.  For your own safety and the safety of those around you, when not under your direct control, your gun should be unloaded and locked up.

I am against efforts to allow staff, students, and the general public to carry guns on campus.  I, along with most police officers, do not believe that open-carry policies are an effective way to reduce crime.
